With the passing of many of the founders of drag racing in recent years, the non-profit Quarter Mile Foundation organization is dedicated to preserving the sports history through interviews, photos and film to educate and motivate future generations of racing enthusiasts. The foundation is introducing a new music download promotion with the award-winning CTS rock band to generate funding for the organization’s ambitious documentary television series with the working title of “Project 1320.”

(Phoenix, AZ) – September 14, 2012 – The NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) has joined efforts with the award-winning rock band CTS (Consider The Source) to generate additional funding for the non-profit (501 (c) 3) B.R.A.K.E.S. student driving education program. CTS has issued a new recording download of their popular song about drag racing, “Quarter Mile,” with download proceeds dedicated to the B.R.A.K.E.S. safe driving program.
B.R.A.K.E.S. has provided safe driving instruction courses for over 8,000 students from 19 different states and 2 countries. The organization’s goal is to increase funding to introduce the B.R.A.K.E.S. program to public & private schools throughout North America with the goal of reducing teen driving accidents.
“The song ‘Quarter Mile,’ was inspired by a drag racing friend of mine who said she lived her life a quarter mile at a time. I was so impressed by all the obstacles she’d overcome to pursue her racing passion, I had to write a song comparing her life’s journey to achieving any dream we have,” stated Jeff Senour, founder of CTS.
“We are excited about this unique fundraising effort with one of our official charities, since it supports one of the NHRA’s original goals of promoting safe driving habits on public roads,” said Tom Compton, President of the NHRA.
CTS introduced the “Freedom Rock Experience” concert series to feature the talents of select high school orchestras to provide a new fundraising and performing opportunity for music students. The new “Quarter Mile” recording is a result of the new concert series and features the full orchestra symphonic sounds of Beau Shekeryk.
The new “Quarter Mile” music download is available on NHRA.com, CTSmusic.com, CD Baby, ITunes, and Amazon.

To help prevent other parents from enduring the pain of losing a child, Jon’s classmates helped Doug form the non-profit organization, B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe). The B.R.A.K.E.S. mission is to prevent injuries and save lives by educating teenage drivers about the importance of safe, responsible driving with classroom and practical “hands-on-the-wheel” driving instruction.
